Daily Farm Report - 7/14/13

A daily recap of the minor league players in the Cardinals' farm system.

Memphis 3, Nashville 2

Springfield 6, Arkansas 3

  • Mike O'Neill was 2-for-4 with a walk.
  • James Ramsey was 0-for-2 with a pair of walks.
  • Cody Stanley was 2-for-4.
  • Adam Melker was 2-for-4.
  • Jonathan Cornelius pitched 6.1 innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits and a walk. He struck out 4.
  • Lee Stoppelman allowed a hit in a clean 1.1 innings. Stoppelman, a lefty, has continued to strikeout batters at a good clip since being promoted to Springfield. The only issue is some shaky command that has his walk rate near 5 per 9 IP.

Palm Beach 3, Brevard County 5

  • David Popkins was 2-for-4 with a double.
  • Starlin Rodriguez was 2-for-2 with a double and a walk.
  • Kurt Heyer pitched 5 innings but was undone by a pair of home runs among his 6 hits allowed. He left the game responsible for 3 runs after striking out 5.
  • Jordan Swagerty, finally back in action after a lengthy injury, allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in an inning of work.

Peoria 13, Great Lakes 4

State College 2, Hudson Valley 4

  • Jimmy Bosco, RF, was 3-for-4 with a double. Bosco's line after almost 100 stands at .323/.364/.548. Bosco is 22 years old as of this past May.
  • Ronald Castillo, LF, was 2-for-4.
  • Steve Ramos, CF, was 2-for-2 with a double and a walk. Ramos has 20 points of OPS on Bosco. The pair share time in centerfield.
  • Ben O'Shea struck out 3 in 3 scoreless innings. He walked 1.
  • Victor De Leon and Kyle Webb were both undone by unearned runs. On the day, 3 of the 4 runs Hudson Valley scored were considered unearned.

Johnson City 3, Bristol 4

  • Brett Wiley, 2B, was 3-for-4 with his 2nd home run of the season.
  • Luis Perez, LF, was 2-for-4 with a double and his 1st home run of the season.
  • Hansel De Los Santos was roughed up for 8 hits in 4.1 innings. He struck out 3 but allowed 4 runs (3 earned).
  • Anderson Gerdel allowed 2 hits and struck out 1 in 1.1 scoreless innings.
