Missouri State Biography

Baseball America:

His performance is less astounding than how he does it. A 6-foot-1, 195-pound righthander, Petree operates with a fastball that sits at 87-88 mph and occasionally creeps into the low 90s. His lone plus pitch is a changeup that college hitters haven’t been able to solve, and he’ll also mix in a curveball and a cutter/slider. He commands all of them well.

MLB Draft Tracker:

After undergoing Tommy John surgery as a freshman, Petree dominated as a redshirt sophomore in 2012 with an ERA near 1.00 but went undrafted. He has been just as dominant in his junior year while also improving his stuff, leaving little question about his Draft status. Petree has a great feel for pitching and works more off of this than his pure stuff. His best pitch is his changeup which could be plus in the future. His fastball has improved greatly in the past year and he will also throw a curveball and slider. Even though he is a junior, Petree could be taken in the top 10 rounds as a value sign like many college seniors are selected.
