Daily Farm Report - 6/19/13

A daily recap of the minor league players in the Cardinals' farm system.

The system had a perfect record, going 4-and-0 on the night. Oscar Taveras and the minor league veterans powered Memphis to a blowout win. In Springfield, Xavier Scruggs went yard again, James Ramsey did the same, and Lee Stoppelman extinguished Tulsa's late-inning bases-loaded threat. Every single player in State College's lineup had at least one base hit.

Memphis 9, Round Rock 4

  • Oscar Taveras homered (5) on his 21st birthday; he was 2-for-5 on the night.
  • Kolten Wong was 1-for-1 with 4 (!) walks, which is pretty uncharacteristic for him.
  • Ryan Jackson was 2-for-3 with 2 walks leading off.
  • Chad Huffman was 2-for-3 with a HR (7) and 2 walks.
  • Brock Peterson homered (16) in a 2-for-5 effort.
  • Nick Additon gave up 8 hits and 3 walks, resulting in 4 runs over 5 innings. Additon clearly didn't have his best stuff as he didn't notch even one strikeout.
  • Fernando Salas had a successful return from the DL, striking out 2 in 1 inning.
  • Sam Freeman struck out 1 batter in 2 scoreless innings, meaning he hasn't given up a run in 15.1 innings.
  • Mitchell Boggs retired all three batters he faced via 2 groundouts and 1 airout.
  • James Ramsey was 2-for-4 with a HR (5) and SB (2) batting leadoff.
  • Xavier Scruggs was 1-for-2 with a HR (19) and 2 walks; he stole a base (5) but was also caught stealing (6).
  • Ruben Gotay homered (7).
  • Thomas Pham walked twice.
  • Jake Lemmerman was 1-for-2 with a double and 2 walks.
  • Ryan Sherriff allowed 9 base runners (7 hits and 2 walks) in 5 innings but only 2 runs reached against him, and he struck out 5.
  • Heath Wyatt struck out 2 in 1 perfect inning.
  • Justin Wright and Kevin Thomas combined for an inning of work. They allowed 4 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 2, but none of their base runners scored because Lee Stoppelman retired all three hitters he faced, striking out 1 of them.
  • Deryk Hooker then struck out 2 in the 9th inning.
Peoria: No Scheduled Game (All-Star Break)

  • Bruce Caldwell was 4-for-5 with a SB (1).
  • Ronald Castillo was 4-for-5 with a double.
  • Cesar Valera was 2-for-5 with a triple.
  • Carson Kelly, David Washington, and Jimmy Bosco all went 1-for-4 with a walk.
  • Luke Volt, Michael Schulze, and Steven Ramos all singled.
  • Kevin Herget pitched the most, 3.1 scoreless innings that included 3 hits, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts.
  • Jimmy Reed handled the game's first 2 innings, allowing 2 runs (0 earned) on 4 hits, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts.
  • MItchell Harris struck out 1 batter in 1.2 innings.
  • Kyle Webb allowed 1 run on 2 hits and 1 walk in 1 inning.
  • Willy Paulino struck out 1 in his inning.
