Daily Farm Report - 6/9/13

A daily recap of the minor league players in the Cardinals' farm system.

Memphis 3, Nashville 5

  • Justin Christian was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a walk. He also stole 2 bases.
  • Jermaine Curtis was 1-for-4 with his 3rd home run of the year.
  • Memphis faced former Redbird Chris Narveson who allowed all 3 runs in a 4.1 inning start.
  • Scott McGregor took the mound for Memphis allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 8 hits in 6 innings. All of the runs scored on two home runs that McGregor allowed. He walked 2 and struck out 2.
  • Sam Freeman struck out 4 and allowed 3 walks in 2 innings.
  • Michael Blazek struck out 2 in a perfect 9th. Through 5 innings at Memphis (his first time in AAA) Blazek has struck out 8 and has yet to allow a base runner.

Springfield 5, Tulsa 0

  • Ruben Gotay was 2-for-3 with a walk.
  • Xavier Scruggs was 1-for-3 with a walk and his 16th home run of the year.
  • Audry Perez was 3-for-4 with his 4th home run of the year.
  • Seth Blair had, arguably, his best start of his professional career. Pitching 7 shutout innings, Blair allowed 3 hits and 2 walks. He struck out 7 and outdueled MLB pitcher Roy Oswalt for the win.

Peoria 9, Quad Cities 1

  • Brevyic Valera was 2-for-5 with a triple.
  • Jacob Wilson was 2-for-2 with 3 walks and a double.
  • Jeremy Schaffer was 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs.
  • Carson Kelly was 0-for-3. He's hitting .219/.288/.301 on the season.
  • Jake Westbrook had the start allowing 1 run across 7 innings on 4 hits. He struck out 5. More importantly, he had 14 groundouts and 0 airouts.
  • Thomas Lee finished the game off with 3 strikeouts across 2 innings allowing 1 hit.
