Daily Farm Report - 5/4/13

A daily recap of the minor league players in the Cardinals' farm system.

Michael Wacha was the schedule starter for Memphis but there game was postponed due to inclement weather. Springfield rallied in late innings to secure a win. Palm Beach split a double-header.

Springfield 5, Tulsa 3

Springfield rallied for 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th to eventually take the lead and secure a solid win.

*Mike O'Neil was 0-2 with 2 walks continuing to be an on base percentage machine. O'Neil in 82 at bats has walked 26 times. He's tied for first in walks in the Texas League.

*Thomas Pham was 2-4 with an RBI single. Pushing his average to .330.

*Minor league veteran Ruben Gotay hit an RBI double.

*Matt Adams on his rehab assignment was 0-3 with a strikeout looking.

*Jake Lemmerman was 1-3 with an RBI single. After a slow start Lemmerman is starting to pick things up with the bat.

*Starlin Rodriguez was hit by a pitch.

*Xavier Scruggs hit a pinch hit 2 run homer to help Springfield take the 5-3 lead.

*Richard Castillo pitched 6 quality innings gave up 6 hits on 3 runs 2 earned walked 2 induced 13 groundouts.

*Kevin Siegrist and Michael Blazek remain excellent at the back-end of games for Springfield as both combine for scoreless innings. Siegrist has now struck out 22 batters in 12 innings pitched. Blazek converted his 5th save owns a minuscule 0.82 ERA as the closer

Palm Beach 3, Bradenton 7 (1st game)

*Nick Longmire doubled.

*Switch hitter Colin Walsh was 1-3 with an RBI single.

*Stephen Piscotty was 0-2 with an RBI.

*Danny Stienstra was 1-3 with an RBI.

*Soft tossing southpaw Kyle Hald was shelled in 3 2/3 innings by allowing 10 hits and 6 earned runs.

*Emerging left handed pitching prospect Lee Stoppelman pitched 1 2/3 innings scoreless.

Palm Beach 8, Bradenton 2 (2nd game)

*James Ramsey hit a sac fly.

*Stephen Piscotty was 1-3 with a walk.

*Danny Stienstra was 2-4 with an RBI double.

*Anthony Garcia was 1-2 with a 2-run RBI single. Garcia now has 18 RBI's.

*Matt Williams with a solid offensive night at the plate at he goes 3-3 with a double.

*Jesus Montero was 2-3 with an RBI single.

*Scott Gorgen still rehabbing in PB went 6 strong innings by only giving up 4 hits on 2 earned runs walked 0 struck out 5.

*Ronnie Shaban pitched a clean frame

Peoria 5, Fort Wayne 1

*Breyvic Valera was 2-4 with a walk. Valera is now hitting .281.

*Alex Mejia showing more ability with the bat was 2-5.

*Jacob Wilson was 1-2 with a sac and RBI single. Wilson has 25 RBI's which is a system best mark.

*Carson Kelly was 2-4 with an RBI double.

*Charlie Tilson starting to heat up as he went 2-3 with an RBI double.

*Kurt Heyer pitched 5 solid innings gave up 3 hits on 1 earned run walked 2 struck out 4.

*Zachary Petrick pitched 2 scoreless innings while striking out 2 batters.

*Michael Aldrete pitched a scoreless 9th by striking 2 batters.
