Daily Farm Report - 8/29/13

A daily recap of the minor league players in the Cardinals' farm system.

The system went 3-and-1 tonight. Memphis won its game behind three home runs. Springfield was rained out. Palm Beach couldn't get any offense going. Peoria won both games of a double-header behind two great starts from Cory Jones and Tyrell Jenkins.

Charlotte 3, Palm Beach 1

Peoria 6, Burlington 2 (Game One - 7 innings)

  • Breyvic Valera was 3-for-4 batting leadoff.
  • Nick Martini was 2-for-3.
  • Jacob Wilson doubled.
  • Carson Kelly singled; he was charged with his 5th error (throwing).
  • Adam Ehrlich singled.
  • Michael Swinson walked.
  • Cory Jones had an electric full-season debut by striking out 7 and only allowing 1 hit in 5 innings.
  • Samuel Tuivailala allowed 1 run on 2 hits and 1 walk; 1 of the 2 outs he recorded was a strikeout.
  • Zach Petrick did not allow either of his two inherited runners to score, but he did give up an unearned run on 1 hit in 1.1 innings.
Peoria 3, Burlington 1 (Game Two - 7 innings)
  • Patrick Wisdom hit his 9th home run and walked.
  • Breyvic Valera and Gerwuins Velazco singled.
  • Michael Swinson walked and stole his 6th bag.
  • Carson Kelly walked.
  • Tyrell Jenkins pitched a "complete game" that lasted only 7 innings. He allowed 5 hits, 2 walks, and struck out 4. The only run that scored against him came on a homer and his groundout-flyout ratio was 8-3.
