Daily Farm Report - 5/25/13

A daily recap of the minor league players in the Cardinals' farm system.

Memphis, Palm Beach, and Peoria all won as the system goes 3-1 W-L overall. Pitching was theme of the night with impressive performances from Boone Whiting, Jonathan Cornelious, and Kyle Helsiek.

Memphis 4, Round 0

Adron Chambers hit a 2-run RBI triple reminding people of his speed.

Kolten Wong doubled and walked extending his hit-streak to 11 games.

Ryan Jackson singled and walked twice.

Brock Peterson hit an RBI single.

Jermaine Curtis was 2-4 with an RBI.

Greg Garcia was hitless in his first game back from the DL. He was DHing.

Boone Whiting pitched an impressive 6 shutout innings giving 3 hits and walking 4 while striking out 4. Whiting struggled with control as he threw 87-pitches only 48 for strikes.

Marc Rzepczynski pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings.

Jorge Rondon gave up 2 hits and retired two batters.

Victor Marte continues to be an resilient arm for Memphis converting his 10th save.

Springfield 2, Midland 3

Springfield have plenty of opportunities to score and didn't execute well leaving 10 runners on base and going 1-for-13 with RISP.

Mike O'Neill continues to be a feisty lead-off man singling twice.

Thomas Pham singled twice as well.

Chris Swauger was 3-4 with a double.

Xavier Scruggs and Starlin Rodriguez went a combined 0-for-8 with 6 strikeouts.

Jake Lemmerman hit a 2-run clutch homer run to tie the game in the bottom of the 8th. Than Kevin Thomas gave up a solo homer which would eventually be the game winner.

Nick Greenwood pitched 5 innings giving up 5 hits on 2 earned runs and struck out 2.

Lee Stoppelman struck out three and was scoreless in two innings of work in his Springfield debut.

Palm Beach 2, Jupiter 1

Matt Williams was 2-3 with a double.

Jonathan Rodriguez was 3-4 with an RBI triple.

Juan Castillo was 1-2 with an RBI and walk.

Jonathan Cornelius pitched an impressive 8 scoreless innings giving up 4 hits and walking 1 on 3 strikeouts. He out-dueled Nathan Eovadoli who was on his rehab assignment.

Ronnie Shaban gave up an earned run but still converted his 5th save.

Peoria 6, Wiscousin 0

Breyvic Valera continues to hit as he singled twice.

Ildemaro Vargas doubled.

Alex Mejia was 2-3 with a walk.

Patrick Wisdom was 3-4 with 2 RBI doubles. Hopefully that gets him going.

Michael Swinson singled and hit a sac fly and Carson Kelly hit an RBI single.

Kyle Helsiek pitched 7 shutout innings walking 2 and striking out 7.

Michael Aldrete pitched 2 scoreless innings and struck out 2 in relief of Helsiek.
