Daily Farm Report - 5/20/13

A daily recap of the minor league players in the Cardinals' farm system.

Memphis 4, Salt Lake 5

  • Kolten Wong was 2-for-5 with his 3rd home run. Wong has been hitting very well of late with home runs in back to back games. He's now hitting .317/.345/.472 on the season with a more encouraging .155 ISO.
  • Ryan Jackson was 2-for-5.
  • Brock Peterson was 2-for-3 with a pair of walks.
  • Chad Huffman was 2-for-2 with a pair of walks.
  • Boone Whiting struck out 4 in 5 innings but struggled with the strikezone walking 4 as well. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits.
  • Barrett Browning struck out 3 in 2 innings and allowed 2 hits.
  • Marc Rzepczynski walked 3 and allowed 2 unearned runs on 1 hit in 1 inning of work.

Springfield 2, Arkansas 1

  • Chris Swauger was 2-for-3 with a walk.
  • Richard Castillo struck out 3 in 5.2 innings. He allowed 1 run while scattering 2 walks and 6 hits.
  • Kevin Siegrist struck out 3 in 1.2 innings allowing 1 hit. Siegrist has been a monster out of the pen with 35 strikeouts in 20 innings against 7 walks. The only "downside" to his performance has been a flyball tendency but that is really quibbling with an otherwise great season.
  • Keith Butler struck out 1 and allowed 1 hit in a scoreless 9th.

Palm Beach 1, Brevard County 4

  • Danny Stienstra was 2-for-4.
  • Juan Castillo was 2-for-3.
  • Travis Miller was hit hard for 4 runs in 4.1 innings. He allowed 8 hits and 4 walks while striking out 3.
  • Jose Almarante struck out 3 in 1.2 innings.

Peoria 11, Clinton 8

  • Idemaro Vargas was 3-for-5 with his first home run of the season.
  • Jacob Wilson was 2-for-4.
  • Patrick Wisdom was 1-for-2 with 3 walks and his 8th home run of the season. Neither Wisdom nor Carson Kelly (1-for-5 on the night) is exactly lighting the world on fire but Wisdom has .090 points of OPS on Kelly right now.
  • Jordan Walton was 2-for-5 with a double.
  • Charlie Tilson was 2-for-2 with a double.
  • Joe Cuda needed 58 pitches to get through 2.1 innings. He walked 2 and allowed 4 hits for 2 earned runs. Cuda struck out 4.
  • Joseph Scanio was lit up for 5 runs in 2.1 innings allowing 6 hits and walking 1.
  • Zach Petrick was the only pitcher not to be scored on. He allowed 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 2 in 2 innings.
