Daily Farm Report - 5/12/13

A daily recap of the minor league players in the Cardinals' farm system.

Memphis 4, Fresno 7 (11 innings)

  • Kolten Wong was 3-for-5 with a double.
  • Oscar Taveras was 2-for-5. Taveras had to be helped from the field after attempting to steal second.
  • Ryan Jackson was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk.
  • Justin Christian was 2-for-5 with a double.
  • Chad Huffman had a pinch hit home run.
  • Memphis burned through 7 pitchers to complete the game. Nick Additon had a strong start with 6 strikeouts in 6 innings. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits. Additon has been off to a strong start in Memphis.
  • Eduardo Sanchez failed in relief of Additon. He recorded just 1 out while allowing 2 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks.
  • Barrett Browning took the loss allowing 3 runs in the 11th inning.

Springfield 7, NW Arkansas 4

  • Mike O'Neill was 2-for-3 with a walk.
  • Jake Lemmerman was 0-for-1 but walked 3 times. Lemmerman isn't lighting the world on fire but he's certainly contributing from the one of the premium defensive positions. Right now his OBP sits at .361.
  • Thomas Pham was 1-for-4 with a walk.
  • Xavier Scruggs was 1-for-2 with a pair of talks.
  • Luis Mateo went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks.
  • If you didn't catch the theme for the day, Springfield walked 11 times in the game.
  • Anthony Ferrara pitched 6 innings managing a quality start despite allowing a 3 spot in the 4th inning. He was tagged for 6 hits and 3 walks while striking out 3.
  • Keith Butler pitched a pair of scoreless innings allowing 1 hit and striking out 1.

Palm Beach: No Scheduled Games

Peoria 4, Quad Cities 2

  • Breyvic Valera and Alex Mejia both went 3-for-5. Valera tripled once while Mejia did so twice.
  • Outside of Valera and Mejia only Jordan Walton reached base twice with a pair of walks in four trips to the plate.
  • Kyle Helisek struck out 5 in 6 innings of work. He walked 3 and allowed 3 hits for 2 runs.
  • Zach Petrick struck out 2 allowing 1 hit and 1 walk while picking up his 5th save in a scoreless 9th.
