A historic night in Springfield as they played a 20 inning thriller that led to multiple positional players pitching late in extra innings. Game goes in the books as the longest game in Springfield Cardinals history.
The Redbirds led most of the game until the reach the 6th game where Fresno's offense posted a 6 spot in the 6th to take the lead.
Adron Chambers was 2-5 with an RBI double. Chambers has gotten off to a poor start offensively but it appears he's starting find his stroke as he's 13-for-his-last-34 in the past 10 games which is a .384 mark. Assuming there's an outfielder that goes down on the major league roster it would like Chambers would be the first guy up as the front office may want Taveras to get more plate appearances under his belt in Memphis to develop more plate coverage.
Kolten Wong was 2-5 with a three-bagger pushing his average to .293.
Oscar Taveras was 1-5 with three strikeouts.
Jamie Romak hit an RBI 2-run double.
Ryan Jackson was 2-4 with a double. Jackson is batting .347 after that.
J.R. Towles hit an RBI single.
Tyler Lyons pitched 5 innings gave up 9 hits, 5 earned runs, 0 walks, 5 strikeouts only 64 pitches thrown.
Jorge Rondon gave up 2 hits on 1 earned run in 2 innings of work.
Mitchell Boggs pitched yet another scoreless inning. Boggs has yet to give up a run 4 of his outings in Memphis
Memphis 4, Northwest Arkansas 5 (20 inning game)
This is the longest game in Springfield Cardinal history. Four positional players combined from both teams ate 10 total innings. One of the more interesting scores you'll ever see as well.
James Ramsey was 2-5 with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. Very odd that you'll see that.
Thomas Pham was 0-8 with a walk and strikeout. Pham at the beginning of the game was batting .340 after his hitless night drops his average to .316.
Ruben Gotay was 3-9 with a key 3-run homer in the bottom of the 8th to tie the game. Gotay also gave up the game winning home run in the 20th inning.
Mike O'Neill was 2-2 with 2 walks.
Starlin Rodriguez recorded 1 hit in 9 at bats that hit was an RBI bloop single.
Vance Albitz was 2-8 but more importantly pitched 3 scoreless innings.
Scott McGregor pitched 6 2/3 innings gave up 9 hits, on 3 earned, 0 walks, 7 strikeouts, induced 7 groundouts.
The big southpaw Kevin Siegrist pitched 1 1/3 scoreless inning struck out 2 batters. Siegrist faced only right handed batters in this outing fared pretty well he's got the stuff to pitch to both lefties and righties.
Michael Blazek was rock solid in 3 scoreless innings gave up 1 hit struck out 2 batters. Continues to be effective as a reliever.
Deryk Hooker pitched 2 1/3 scoreless out of relief.
Palm Beach's game was postponed due to rain.
Peoria 6, Quad Cities 3 (Game 1)
Alex Mejia doubled.
Jacob Wilson hit an RBI single.
Jordan Walton hit 2 solo homers pushing his average up to .346.
Michael Swinson was 2-3 with 2 runs scored.
Charlie Tilson was 1-3 with an RBI double.
Casey Rasmus was 2-3 with an RBI double as well.
Tyrell Jenkins pitched 5 innings gave up 7 hits, 3 earned runs, walked 5 (must've had inconsistency with his arm slot and mechanics), 3 strikeouts.
Corey Baker pitched 2 scoreless innings struck out 5
Breyvic Valera singled, scored a run, and walked.
Jacob Wilson continues to show nice power as he goes 2-4 with a RBI single, and solo homer. Wilson's bat has been very productive this year as he's already knocked in 30 runners.
Charlie Tilson doubled.
Silfredo Garcia who emerged on the prospect radar last year with his performance in Johnson City made his full-season debut by pitching 3 innings giving up 2 hits, 1 earned run, 1 walk, 4 strikeouts. Garcia last year dominated younger hitters this year will be interesting as he will be facing more experienced hitters in a more age appropriate level.
Dixon Llorens didn't record an out but apparently threw a wild pitch then immediately called for a trainer to come out and was eventually taken out of the game. That's all anyone knows currently.
Joseph Scanio pitched 3 innings gave up 2 hits on 1 earned run struck out 2 batters.
Michael Aldrete recorded two outs in the ninth but allowed winning to come around to score for a walk-off.
