Daily Farm Report - 4/29/13

A daily recap of the minor league players in the Cardinals' farm system.

Memphis 1, Albuquerque 2

  • Oscar Taveras was 2-for-4.
  • Kolten Wong was 1-for-3 with a walk.
  • Michael Wacha had another solid outing in a tough park that is not friendly to pitchers. After 6 innings, he allowed 1 run on 5 hits and 2 walks. Wacha struck out 3 and had 12 groundballs against 2 flyballs.
  • Jorge Rondon walked 4 in his inning of work allowing 1 hit. Keith Butler would allow one of Rondon's batters to reach home plate for the walk off win.

Springfield 12, Arkansas 2

  • Thomas Pham was 2-for-5 with his 5th home run.
  • Chris Swauger was 2-for-3 with a home run and a walk.
  • Xavier Scruggs batted 2 home runs in his 4 at bats.
  • Adam Melker and Jake Lemmerman both went 2-for-4. Melker tripled.
  • Springfield was 13-for-36 with on the night with r home runs.
  • Carlos Martinez struck out 5 in 5 innings.He allowed 3 hits and 1 run while walking 1. Martinez needed 74 pitches and recorded 7 of 9 outs on balls in play on the ground.
  • Kevin Siegrist struck out 2 in 2 innings and allowed 1 hit.
  • The Travelers had a frustrating night which included the ejection of two pitchers and their coach.

Palm Beach 1, Daytona 2 (8 innings)

  • Nick Longmire had an ugly night going 0-for-4 with 3 strikeouts.
  • Ronnie Gil and David Popkins both reached base twice. Popkins doubled and walked.
  • A Stephen Piscotty walk, Colin Walsh single and Anthony Garcia HBP rounded out the weak outing for Palm Beach.
  • Sam Gaviglio was on point with 6 strikeouts in 5 innings. He walked 2 and allowed 2 hits for 1 run. He returned to his groundball roots with 5 of 7 on the ground.
  • Lee Stoppelman struck out 3 in 2 innings allowing 3 hits and 1 walk.
  • The game was ended early due to rain after Ronnie Shaban allowed Daytona's second run in the 8th.

Peoria 3, Bowling Green 4 (11 innings)

  • Breyvic Valera was 3-for-5 with a double.
  • Jacob Wilson was 2-for-4 with a home run and a walk.
  • Charlie Tilson was 2-for-5.
  • Carson Kelly was 1-for-5. He makes the DFR, however, for an ignominious reason: a golden sombrero.
  • Kyle Helisek struck out 4 in 4.2 innings. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits and 2 walks.
  • Michael Aldrete took the loss allowing a run in his third inning of work.
