Daily Farm Report - 4/27/13

A daily recap of the minor league players in the Cardinals' farm system.

A couple of come from behind wins in late innings by Palm Beach and Peoria. The system goes 2-1 on the night. Patrick Wisdom hit his Cardinal minor league leading 6th home run. Richard Castillo pitched a quality start but earned the loss as he was out-pitched by the Travelers starter.

Memphis game was postponed due to rain. They like Springfield will host a double-header on Sunday.

Springfield 3, Arkansas 9

*Springfield's offense only produced 3 runs but had plenty of opportunities to score but never could capitalize with RISP as they went 2-for-11 and stranded 12 runners aboard. They were in the game until the 8th inning when there bullpen imploded.

*Mike O'Neil was 1-4 with a walk.

*Thomas Pham continues to hit by going 2-4 with a walk. Pham is now batting .347 that's the 2nd highest AVG in the Texas League among qualified.

*Chris Swauger was 2-3 with an RBI double and 2 walks.

*Starlin Rodriguez walked. Like to see him show some patient as he's the anti Mike O'Neil statistically.

*Audry Perez was 1-3 with an RBI double as well.

*Richard Castillo pitched 6 quality innings gave up 8 hits 3 runs 3 earned walked 1 struck out 2.

*Justin Wright had a scoreless 7th inning. Then gave up two 2 run homers in the 8th.

*Michael Blazek was unlucky as he gave up 2 unearned in an inning of work

Palm Beach 8, Jupiter 7

*Palm Beach scored 2 runs on a fielding error walking off.

*Nick Longmire with a successful night at the plate was 4-4 with a double and 2 RBI also walked.

*Switch hitter Colin Walsh was 1-4 with a 2 run RBI double. Walsh now has 16 RBI's this season.

*Stephen Piscotty continues to tear up FSL pitching as he went 2-5. Piscotty is leading the FSL in hitting at .393 that's by a fair margin. You would have to think if he continues to hit like this he's due for a promotion to Springfield.

*Jonathan Rodriguez was 3-5 with a double.

*David Popkins was 3-4 with 2 RBI's and a walk also swiped his 1st bag.

*Adam Ehrlich was 1-4 with an RBI.

*Soft tossing southpaw Kyle Hald went 5 1/3 innings giving up 6 hits 6 runs 5 of them earned walked 2 struck out 2.

*Heath Wyatt pitched 2 1/3 effective innings struck out 4 batters in that span.

*Ronnie Shaban pitched a scoreless 9th and earned his first win of the season in PB

Peoria 7, Dayton 5

*Alex Mejia showing more ability with the bat by going 2-3 with an RBI double and a walk.

*Jacob Wilson was 1-4 with a 2 run homer. That home run wounded up to be the game winner.

*Carson Kelly was 1-2 with a double and walk.

*Patrick Wisdom was 1-4 with another solo homer. Wisdom now leads the Cardinals minor leagues in home runs.

*Breyvic Valera showing his barreling abilities by going 2-3 with an RBI triple.

*Geoffrey Klein was 2-3 with 2 RBI.

*Kurt Heyer existed the game early because he was hit on a comebacker reportedly got his right hand/arm. He only lasted 1 2/3 innings.

*Joseph Scanio took over and pitched 3 1/3 innings gave up 5 hits 3 runs 3 earned.

*Jhonny Polanco pitched 3 innings in relief gave up 4 hits on 2 runs 2 earned.

*Michael Aldrete converted the save by striking 2 in an inning of work.
