A daily recap of the minor league players in the Cardinals' farm system.

I was shocked to find a photo of Patrick Wisdom in our archives too.

Memphis takes a loss but everyone else wins in spite of poor pitching. Patrick Wisdom leads the night's offense.

Memphis 2, Iowa 5

  • Justin Christian was 2-for-3 with a pair of walks.
  • Kolten Wong was 2-for-5.
  • Oscar Taveras is off to a slow start in Memphis and has been playing a mix of center field and right field. He was 0-for-4 on the night.
  • Ryan Jackson, playing shortstop, was 1-for-3 with a walk.
  • Seth Maness was battered through 6 innings for 5 runs on 8 hits. He walked 1 and struck out 2. Maness remains an interesting case study. He's struck out 18 in 25 innings against just 3 walks. That makes for an excellent FIP in the Pacific Coast League (3.28) but he's been very hittable. Whether that's bad luck or indicative of his stuff or some combination of both, this is still a soft tossing right hander that projects towards the back of any major league rotation in a best case scenario.
  • Nick Greenwood struck out 2 in 2 innings.
  • Keith Butler walked 2 and struck out 1 in the 9th.

Springfield 9, NW Arkansas 6

Palm Beach 7, Fort Myers 4

  • Nick Longmire, strangely batting lead off, delivered a 2-for-5 night with a double.
  • Stephen Piscotty was 2-for-3 with a pair of walks.
  • Cody Stanley was 2-for-4 with a walk.
  • Ronnie Gil was 2-for-4 with a walk.
  • Tyler Rahmatulla was 1-for-3 with 2 walks.
  • Kyle Hald struck out 2 in 5 innings allowing 2 runs on 2 walks and 3 hits.
  • Scott Gorgen allowed 2 runs over 3 innings on 6 hits. He walked 2 and struck out 2.
  • Iden Nazario struck out 1 in a perfect 9th.

Peoria 9, Kane County 6

  • Breyvic Valera was 2-for-6.
  • Jacob Wilson was 2-for-4.
  • Patrick Wisdom had his best night of the season at the plate. He was 3-for-3 with two walks and his 4th home run of the season.
  • Michael Swinson was 2-for-5.
  • Charlie Tilson was 2-for-4 with a walk. I guess we can all rest easy about the Casey Rasmus pinch hit from the other night.
  • Kyle Helisek allowed 7 hits in 5.1 innings for 5 runs (4 earned). He struck out 3 and walked 4.
  • Dixon Llorens picked up his third save despite a bumpy outing. He walked 2 and allowed a hit in the 9th.
