Spring Farm Report - 3/25/13

A daily recap of the minor league players in the Cardinals' system.

Memphis 6, Springfield 3

Memphis

Springfield

  • John Gast allowed 1 walk and 3 hits in his 4 innings. He struck out 1.
  • Jorge Rondon was lit up for 5 ER in 1 innings. He walked 3 and allowed 3 hits against 2 strikeouts.
  • Jake Lemmerman went 2-for-2.
  • Xavier Scruggs was 1-for-3 with a home run.

Palm Beach 6, Peoria 4

Palm Beach

  • Hector Hernandez allowed 4 hits and a walk in 4 innings.
  • Danny Miranda allowed 4 hits in 2 innings. He struck out 1.
  • Colin Walsh was 1-for-3 with a home run.
  • Stephen Piscotty was 2-for-3 with a home run. It's too early -- not to mention that I haven't seen him in person -- but Piscotty sure seems like one of those professional hitters the Cardinals have drafted recently. Think Matt Adams or Allen Craig or even David Freese depending on how much power you expect Piscotty to develop.
  • Jonathan Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with a home run.
  • Danny Stinestra was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles.

Peoria

  • Joe Cuda allowed 5 hits in 3 innings translating into 2 ER. He struck out 3.
  • Robert Stock had a mixed outing with 2 ER in 2 innings. He allowed 1 walk and 2 hits with 2 strikeouts.
  • Michael Swinson was 3-for-3.
  • Gerwuins Velazco was 2-for-2.
  • Jeremy Schaffer was 1-for-3 and was hit by a pitch.
  • Breyvic Valera was 1-for-3 with a walk.
  • Jimmy Parque went yard in a pinch hitting appearance.
