A daily recap of the minor league players in Spring Training.

The Cardinals faced off in abbreviated intra-team games today. Memphis and Springfield face off for 6 1/2 innings while Palm Beach stares down Peoria for 5 1/2 innings.

Memphis 3, Springfield 1

Memphis

  • Nick Additon struck out 4 in 3 innings allowing just 1 hit. Additon may get lost in the mix at Memphis with the arrival of other lefties Tyler Lyons and John Gast. Additon has been steady but not standout as he climbed through the minor league system.
  • Nick Greenwood struck out 2 and allowed 1 run on 2 hits in his 2 innings.
  • Completing the lefty trifecta was Lee Stoppelman who pitched 2 innings striking out 3. He allowed 1 hit.
  • Tommy Pham was 1-for-3 with a walk.
  • Colin Walsh was 1-for-1 with a pair of walks.

Springfield

  • Sam Gaviglio pitched 2.1 innings allowing 5 hits and 2 runs. He struck out 2 and walked 2.
  • Tyler Melling fared a little better allowing 1 run on 2 hits and 3 walks in 2.1 innings pitched. He struck out 5.
  • Patrick Wisdom was 1-for-3 with a double.
  • Stephen Piscotty was 2-for-3.

Palm Beach 4, Peoria 2

Palm Beach

  • Mitch Harris was saddled with 2 unearned runs in his 2 innings of work. He struck out 2 and allowed 2 hits.
  • Steven Sabatino struck out 2 and allowed 1 hit in his 2 innings of work.
  • Mike Aldrete struck out 1 and allowed 1 hit in 2 innings pitched.
  • Catcher Adam Ehrlich was 2-for-2.
  • Carson Kelly provided the firepower for Palm Beach blasting a 3 run home run in one of his two at bats.
  • Ildemaro Vargas was 1-for-3.

Peoria

  • Kyle Helisek allowed 3 runs in 3 innings. He had 3 hits and 1 walk with 1 K to his name.
  • Joe Scanio struck out 1 and walked 1 in 2 innings. He allowed the Palm Beach's 4th run and one hit.
  • Charlie Tilson was 1-for-3 with a triple.
  • Lance Jeffries was 1-for-3 with a double.
  • Rowan Wick was 1-for-2 with a double.
