The final leg of the long weekend is here, as we have reached Labor Day Monday. After a crushing, 6-5 loss in Milwaukee yesterday, the Cardinals are home — where 10 of their next 13 games will be. First up: the Los Angeles Dodgers for a four-game series. Old friend Albert Pujols will be back in the Gateway City this week. On Sunday, as a pinch-hitter, Pujols launched the 678th home run of this career.
The 86-51 Dodgers are in second place in the National League West, a game behind the Giants, and currently hold the top Wild Card spot. The second spot is held by the Padres, holding a slim, half-game lead over the Reds, with the Phillies 2 1⁄2 back and the Cardinals three games back.
Today’s pitching matchup will feature Miles Mikolas and Max Scherzer, with first pitch set for 3:15 PM Central time.
Have a good day!
