MLB: St. Louis Cardinals at New York Mets Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

Happy Thursday, everyone!

The Cardinals finished off a three-game sweep of the Mets last night, with homers from Harrison Bader, Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, and Edmundo Sosa, a robbery by Lars Nootbaar, and six strong innings from Jon Lester. Lester picked up career win 199, and the Cardinals improved to 76-69.

With the Reds loss to the Pirates and the Padres win over the Giants, the Cardinals hold the second National League Wild Card spot. The Dodgers hold the first spot, but they are still fighting the Giants for the West division crown. St. Louis has a one game lead over San Diego, and a 1 12 game lead over Cincinnati. The Phillies are three games back, and the Mets have fallen five games back.

The Cardinals are off today, as they travel back home to St. Louis to open a huge, three-game series over the weekend with the Padres. The Cardinals have won five in a row and are coming off their best offensive series of the year. How are you feeling?

Have a great day!
