Happy Tuesday!
A 7-0 win over the Mets last night has upped the Cardinals’ record 74-69. The Padres lost to the surging Giants — who have won eight straight — and the Reds were off.
So, at the start of the day, it’s the Reds in possession of the second National League Wild Card, and the Padres and Cardinals are each just a half-game back. The Phillies are 2 1⁄2 games back, and the Mets are 3 1⁄2 games back.

The NL Wildcard race: the Dodgers or Giants will get one spot, likely with the second-best record in the majors. The five teams currently vying for the second WC are within 3 1/2 games of each other.
We will see if the Cardinals can keep the momentum flowing in tonight’s game. Jake Woodford will start against Marcus Stroman and the Mets. First pitch from Citi Field is set for 6:10 PM Central. The Padres have another meeting with the Giants tonight, while the Reds will open a series in Pittsburgh against the Pirates.
Have a good day!
