Crazy to believe that we are already to September. Summer sure has flown by. With last night’s scheduled game postponed due to rain in Cincinnati, the Cardinals and Reds will play a split doubleheader this afternoon. The first pitch for the first game is set for 12:10 PM Central time, and it’ll be Wade Miley and Miles Mikolas in the afternoon contest. The night cap, with a 5:40 start time, will feature Sonny Gray and J.A Happ.

In the spirit of September 1st, the Cardinals will add two players to their roster today: reliever Brandon Dickson and catcher Ali Sanchez. To add Dickson to the 40-man roster, Ryan Helsley was transferred to the 60-day injured list.

At the start of play on Wednesday, the Cardinals are 67-63 and the Reds are 71-62. The Brewers hold a 10-game lead over the Reds in the Central division. Looking at the Wild Card standings, the Dodgers hold the first spot by a substantial, 13-game margin. In the second spot, the Reds and Padres are tied, with the Cardinals and Phillies lurking just 2 12 games behind. If the Cardinals, somehow, swept today’s twin-bill, they would be just a half-game behind Cincy. Getting swept today would put the Cardinals at 4 12 back.

Enjoy the day!
