Happy Monday! The Cardinals are off today after taking two of three from the Royals in the ‘I-70 Series’ over the weekend. Adam Wainwright started for the Cardinals on Friday night and went seven innings, but Kwang Hyun Kim only made it through four innings on Saturday followed by Jon Lester’s five innings on Sunday.

St. Louis will get some rotation help this week, as Jack Flaherty is expected to return to the Majors after being out since June 1st with an oblique injury. It’s been rumored that Flaherty will make the start on Thursday afternoon, in the series finale in Pittsburgh against the Pirates. Flaherty has made rehab starts at Triple-A Memphis and Double-A Springfield, getting himself built back up after being sidelined for several weeks.

The Cardinals currently sit one game under the .500 mark, at 55-56, as they travel to PNC Park. The Brewers dropped two of three over the weekend, and the Reds have won five in a row. So, entering play Monday, Milwaukee holds a five game lead over Cincy in the Central and a 10 12 game lead over St. Louis.
