As the team nears the midseason break, MLB hopes fan attention turns to All-Star Week. However, fewer than half of baseball fans said they care about the All-Star Game.

On top of that, only a slight majority of fans even want their team’s star player to participate in All-Star events, instead of taking that time to rest for the second half of the season.

The rosters for both the NL and AL teams have been set. But even after the votes were counted and the rosters completed, fans still aren’t convinced the right players were picked.
According to the survey, Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer was the biggest roster snub, earning 39 percent of the vote. Padres third baseman Manny Machado took the next highest percentage of votes with 20 percent.

On the other end of the spectrum, another pitcher was picked as the All-Star player least deserving of the roster spot. Yankees reliever Aroldis Chapman was picked by 44 percent of fans as being the biggest roster surprise.

Whether the right players were selected or not, a slight majority of fans believe the American League will win the Midsummer Classic. The AL took 52 percent of the vote.
