Good morning, everyone! I’m sure we all are still excited about the Cardinals’ 11-6, Opening Day victory over the Reds.
In yesterday’s game, we saw Paul Goldschmidt go 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles. Eight of the nine St. Louis starters yesterday either scored or drove in a run, thanks in large part to a six-run first inning capped off by rookie Dylan Carlson’s three-run homer off the right field foul pole.

Tyler O’Neill later followed suit, in the fourth inning, with a two-out, two-run shot:

On the mound, Jack Flaherty was charged with all six of the Reds’ runs in 4 1⁄3 innings. After Flaherty, the St. Louis ‘pen was pretty sharp. Tyler Webb recorded the last two outs of the fifth inning, followed by scoreless frames from Ryan Helsley, Genesis Cabrera, Giovanny Gallegos, and Alex Reyes. For those who care, Gallegos was credited with the win.
Sadly, the Cardinals are off today, but they will be back in action against the Reds on Saturday. You can still get your baseball fix, though. Trevor Bauer will make his regular-season debut with the Dodgers on Friday evening, as will Blake Snell with the Padres. The Orioles and Red Sox are slated for a 1:10 PM Central Time start this afternoon after yesterday’s game was pushed back by the weather.
Have a good day!
