The Cardinals open up the 2021 regular season in Cincinnati, with a 3:10 PM Central Time date with the Reds. Jack Flaherty will take the mound, joining Dizzy Dean as the only Cardinals with two or more Opening Day starts before turning 26. Yadier Molina will start behind the plate for the 17th consecutive Opening Day, the longest streak for a catcher with one team.
History: Yadier Molina makes his 17th consecutive Opening Day start at catcher for the @Cardinals, extending the longest streak ever for a catcher with one team in @MLB. Jack Flaherty said Molina and @UncleCharlie50 are inspirations to every player on the team. @MLBNetwork
