There are (were) three baseball games being played today and one of them are elimination games. The Atlanta Braves defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 3-0 in the afternoon and this evening at 6:07pm CT the Tampa Bay Rays will play for their postseason lives against the Boston Red Sox . Then at 8:37 pm CT the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers will play with the series tied at one game a piece.
There has been some exciting plays in this postseason so far. The Inexplicable Postseason Legend of Randy Arozarena has continued to grow:
The Rays were on the wrong side of a controversial ground-rule double; the ball hit off the wall, bounce of the ground, and then bounce off the Red Sox player and over the wall out of play. The Rays players on first base was nearly home, running on the 3-2, 2-out count.
Albert Pujols will make a start at first base tonight against the Giants and lefty Alex Wood. Pujols is batting .294/.336/.603 with 13 homeruns against lefties in 2021. Wood does not seem to have much of a split, though. In his career against lefties he has a .250/.293/.338 slash line against versus .248/.313/.388 from righties.
After a rainout, the Houston Astros and Chicago White Sox play tomorrow at 1:07 pm CT with the Astros leading the series 2-1. Surprise, surprise, there has been sign-stealing accusations from the White Sox and manager Tony LaRussa against the Astros. Astros Manager Dusty Baker quoted Eric Clapton in response:
“So I don’t have much response to that other than I was listening to Eric Clapton this morning, and he had a song, ‘Before You Accuse Me (Take a Look at Yourself).’ ... You know what I mean? That’s all I got to say.”
Should be fun!
