We finally have something to talk about in this MLB “Hot Stove” season. (!!) On Thursday afternoon, the Mets acquired shortstop Francisco Lindor and right-hander Carlos Carrasco from the Indians for infielders Andres Gimenez and Amed Rosario, outfielder Isaiah Greene, and right-hander Josh Wolf.
Welcome to New York!

Mets acquire Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco in trade with Cleveland - Amazin’ Avenue
Carlos Carrasco deserved better - Let’s Go Tribe
Lindor is currently in line to be a free agent at the end of this 2021 season, while Carrasco has two years remaining on the four-year deal he signed. The Mets’ willingness to part with shortstops Gimenez and Rosario, nevertheless, expresses their desire to sign Lindor well beyond this year.
Back in November, John LaRue took a look at what a trade between the Cardinals and Indians for Lindor might have looked like.
Speaking of the Cardinals, hopefully we have some baseball news more relevant to St. Louis in the near future. Perhaps a trade with the Diamondbacks for David Peralta, as Lil_Scooter wrote about? Or re-signing Yadier Molina and/or Adam Wainwright? I know we here at VEB are getting anxious for some noise, and I’m sure a lot of you are, too.
