Finally.. some news!

On Thursday evening, MLB Network insider Jon Heyman reported that the Cardinals have resigned right-hander Adam Wainwright. The deal is believed to be a one-year deal, for the 2021 season, worth $8 million.

Wainwright made his MLB debut in 2005 and has been with St. Louis ever since. The now 39-year-old has five seasons of at least 200 innings pitched and eight seasons with at least 30 starts. Wainwright started 10 games in last year’s pandemic-shortened season and pitched one game, in particular, that reminded us why we love baseball.

This may not be the only Cardinals news we get over the next few days. In a separate Tweet, Heyman noted that the team would also like to bring back Kolten Wong and Yadier Molina. After Yadi’s Instagram post on Thursday morning and the news of Wainwright’s signing Thursday evening, might we have another reunion (or two??) to celebrate this weekend?

Stay tuned!
