Pitchers and catchers don’t report for over a month still, putting the baseball season firmly in the middle of its offseason. Which means it is the perfect time to take a look at which players sit atop the rest of the league.
According to the most recent SB Nation Reacts survey, baseball fans around the country believe Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout is still the best player in Major League Baseball.

Statistically, Trout has been the game’s best player for the majority of the last decade. Even without the national media attention, Trout has earned his place as baseball’s best.
No one else even approached Trout’s results in the survey. Only one other player broke 10 percent of the vote, Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts who received 12 percent. Behind Betts was Nationals outfielder Juan Soto and Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman, both with three percent.
Mike Judge, Jacob deGrom – the only pitcher to rank this high – Ronald Acuña Jr., Fernando Tatis Jr., Christian Yelich, Nolan Arenado, Buster Posey and Javier Báez all received multiple votes.
