Good morning, everyone. Charlie Morton, member of the AL champion Rays, signed a one-year deal with the Braves yesterday. Some off-field news surrounding the Rays stole the headlines yesterday, however — the kind of news that teams never want to hear.
Randy Arozarena was arrested in Mexico after he reportedly tried to take his daughter from her mother and then assaulted the woman’s father. ESPN reported that MLB is investigating the situation; as of now, Arozarena has not been charged.

The Cardinals also had some off-field drama earlier this week, as Carlos Martinez may fines after violating COVID-19 restrictions in his hometown in the Dominican Republic. Martinez was one of the several Cardinals who had COVID-19 during the season, and he had to be hospitalized twice for his symptoms.. oh dear.
Spoke to Martinez's representative, and here's what he said: #stlcards pitcher is not currently and was not in custody. He may face a fine for violations. He was being part of the filming of a video, and that drew a crowd in his hometown. https://t.co/mQtuMGGu3M
