Good morning, all! Hope you had a nice weekend. The Most Valuable Player, Cy Young, Rookie of the Year, and Manager of the Year Awards were announced last week; now, our attentions shifts (as if it already wasn’t there) to the offseason market. Around St. Louis, the buzz surrounds two guys who have been there for more than 15 years: Adam Wainwright and Yadier Molina.
There was some chatter connecting Wainwright to the Braves a couple weeks back, but most recently (and more widely reported) is the interest Molina is drawing from other teams, notably the Mets and Yankees — as well as the Cardinals.
Is Yadier Molina a fit for the Yankees? - Pinstripe Alley
Kolten Wong is still on the market, too, after the Cardinals declined the second baseman’s option for 2021.
Who knows how long the Molina-Wainwright-free-agency saga will continue. I do know that many in St. Louis are really torn on what this team is going to look like in 2021 and beyond.
