Good morning and happy Friday to you. We’re only in day three no baseball and the offseason drama is already swirling in St. Louis. On Wednesday, the Cardinals announced that they have declined the option of second baseman Kolten Wong, making him a free agent, joining Yadier Molina and Adam Wainwright on the open market.
Wong and Molina shared the following posts on their Instagram accounts, respectively:

St Louis... I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for an amazing 7 years! To my teammates and coaches I love you guys! You guys not only grinded with me on and off the field but you also turned this kid from the little town of Hilo to the proud man I am today. To the fans, Thank you guys so much for welcoming me into this prestigious organization where I got to play in front of the best fans in baseball! STL will always have a special place in my heart and I will never forget all the amazing people who impacted me along the way! Much love #16
It’s a bit blurry, so if you can’t tell what the emoji is in Molina’s post, here you go:
Outside of the free agency buzz, Hall of Famer and former Cardinals skipper Tony La Russa was announced as the new manager of the Chicago White Sox on Thursday. TLR is 76 years old and last managed back in 2011. Since then, he has worked in off-field positions, most recently with the Angels.
