The two teams combined for one run

MLB: Spring Training-Washington Nationals at St. Louis Cardinals Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Offensive woes were evident for Springfield and Palm Beach Monday. In a combined 20 innings, the two teams scored one run. Palm Beach scored 0 in an 11 inning affair.

Tulsa Drillers 5, Springfield Cardinals 1

Evan Mendoza: 1-2, 2 BB

Springfield surrendered two runs in the first inning and Tulsa never looked back in an easy win.

The Cardinals combined for just three hits coming from Evan Mendoza, Kramer Robertson and Randy Arozarena.

Roel Ramirez got roughed up on the mound, giving up five runs, six hits, one walk and striking out three in 4 13 innings. The bullpen, at least, was in shutdown mode, but it was far too late. Hector Mendoza turned in a scoreless 1 23 innings followed by scoreless frames from Connor Jones and Jacob Patterson.

Springfield falls to 23-34. Game 2 at Tulsa is Tuesday at 7:05.

Lakeland Flying Tigers 2 at Palm Beach Cardinals 0 (11)

Tommy Parsons: 8 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 12 Ks

Tommy Parsons put together an incredible start but the Cardinals offense did nothing in return. Palm Beach combined for two hits, which is still more than Lakeland mustered through eight innings thanks to Parsons’ stellar work.

Bryan Dobzanski pitched the final three innings and took the loss.

Palm Beach falls to 32-24. Game 2 with Lakeland is Tuesday at 5:30.
