Today is the waiver deadline for postseason eligibility and the Cardinals might be in on Josh Donaldson - A Hunt and Peck

Currently Josh Donaldson is a member of the Toronto Blue Jays and rehabbing a calf injury that has plagued him for most of the 2018 season. It is undoubtedly a down year for a player that has had nothing but success in his time in the Big Leagues. Since his debut eight seasons ago he has put up 35.6 Fangraphs Wins Above Replacement, 5.1 in as recently as 2017.

According to some he could be wearing the Birds on the Bat by the end of August 31. Per Joe Trezza and Jon Morosi of MLB.com:

The Cardinals suffered another injury blow Monday evening when Jedd Gyorko went down with a hamstring injury. He joins infielder Kolten Wong on the Cardinals crowded disabled list, making plenty of room for the right-handed third baseman on the starting roster. According to Morosi, the relationship between Donaldson and the Blue Jays has crumbled, giving the team incentive to move him before he hits free agency in 2019.

If the Cardinals were to ever acquire Josh Donaldson, now might just be the time.
