Daily Farm Report: Springfield wins, Palm Beach splits double header

Starter Kevin Herget got roughed up, the defense struggled, and Round Rock easily defeated the Redbirds.

Round Rock hung a four spot on Herget in the first and followed that up with three runs in the second. Memphis got on the board with a sac fly from Rangel Ravelo in the third and a solo homer from Lane Thomas added another in the fourth.

Round Rock added two more runs in the fifth. Tommy Edman hit a triple in the seventh and was driven in on a single by Ravelo.

Herget (9-11) gave up nine runs, six earned, 12 hits, one walk, and struck out three in 4 13 innings. Conner Greene pitched 2 23 scoreless innings and Tommy Layne pitched a scoreless inning.

Memphis lost two of three to Round Rock and start a four-game series at Nashville tonight at 7:05.

Springfield came out hot and never trailed.

The Cardinals scored five runs in the first inning behind a 2-RBI single by John Nogowski and a three-run home run by Chris Chinea. An RBI single by Nogowski made it 6-0 in the fourth.

Arkansas got on the board with two runs in the sixth and scored another run in the seventh.

Genesis Cabrera (1-3) got his first win in Springfield going six innings and giving up two runs, four hits, one walk, and struck out four. Roel Ramirez gave up one run in one inning. Seth Elledge pitched two scoreless innings and earned his fourth save of the season.
