Cardinals righthander Carlos Martínez has been placed on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to his last start on May 8 with a right lat strain. For those that may have missed it, that is his throwing lat.
If all goes well, Carlos will be available again after May 18. Let's hope it does as he has has been the team's most valuable pitcher. In 50 innings, Carlos has put up a 1.62 ERA (over-performing a 3.41 FIP) with a 22.4% strikeout rate to a 1.5% walk rate, amassing 1.0 fWAR in eight starts.
