Cardinals News and Notes: Cards still in first

The Cardinals, Brewers, Cubs and Pirates all had off-days yesterday, meaning the Cardinals are still technically in first place, making Monday a good day. It was a bad day because there was no baseball, but any day in first place in the Central can’t be too bad of a day. On to the links!

• Yadier Molina is at the end of a long and celebrated career, and is playing much better than expected thus far, and that’s pretty important for his Hall of Fame case, argues Andy Schrag.
• Greg wrote what I believe is his first piece, and what better first topic than the red hot Memphis Redbirds. Red hot may not be an accurate term as it implies they are playing better than their record, and they could actually be this good.
• A.E. Schafer decided to take a deeper look into Paul DeJong’s plate discipline numbers, and there are both positives and negatives.
• Lastly, Heather has a Hunt and Peck where she notices that the Cardinals are in first place, as I did, and gives you a more expansive set of links than this post.

Here’s hoping that the Cardinals give me a good game to recap tonight, because recapping bad games are not fun. I’m sure you would assume that though.
