Cardinals news and notes: Mayers, Fowler, and Mikolas

Here’s some things I wrote at VEB over the weekend.

• Hey, you remember Mike Mayers? He’s back...in relief ace form. Maybe. Here’s a look at some of the many, many other pitchers who have successfully gone from nondescript starting pitcher to excellent relief pitcher.
• Dexter Fowler was effective at the plate, less effective in the field, and unfortunately effective at accumulated DL stints in 2017. Here’s what the VEB community had to say about how Dexter Fowler will fare in 2018.
• Miles Mikolas has made his (possibly) triumphant return to Major League Baseball and will be in the starting rotation for the St. Louis Cardinals this season. VEB isn’t super optimistic about it. Here’s where the community projected him for 2018.
