Some games are good. Others are bad. This game was bad.
It does not deserve a recap. But this does:
Yup. Addison Russell fell into some nachos. And that was the only interesting thing about this game.
The offense was lackluster.
The starting pitching was faulty.
The relief pitching was okay.
Overall it was not a fun game to watch.
The Cubs hit two homers off starter Luke Weaver. Kris Bryant hit a solo shot in the second inning, but the real dagger came off the bat of Javier Baez with two men on base an inning later. That dinger turned a four run game into a seven run game. It reduced the Cardinals win expectancy from 13.6% to 3.9%. From a glimmer of hope to lol nope.
The Cubs scored ten runs. The Cardinals scored two - a solo shot from Jedd Gyorko and a solo shot from Luke Voit.
And that is all I have to say about that.
*** Sorry about the late recap. I am an idiot.
