Mark McGwire homers twice to power the Cardinals to a 7-1 road win over the Florida Marlins. McGwire’s first homer of the night, a solo shot off Livan Hernandez, broke Hack Wilson’s NL record for single-season home runs (56 for the Cubs in 1930) that had stood for 68 years.
