Springfield 2, Tulsa 3
- Magneuris Sierra - 1-5, 2 K, SB
- Oscar Mercado - 0-3, 2 K
- Randy Arozarena - 0-2, 2 K
- Darren Seferina - 0-5, 3 K
- Eliezer Alvarez - 2-5, R, HR, RBI
- Tommy Edman - 1-3, RBI
- Sandy Alcantara - 6.1 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 3 K
Springfield lost in the 11th on a walk-off single. After a monstrous 2016, Eliezer Alvarez has had a disappointing season. Good to see him hit a HR after a lengthy stay on the disabled list. At only 22 years old, and 2 more option years left, he’ll have plenty of time to get back on track. Tommy Edman raised his batting average to .260 after a slow start.
Peoria 1, Beloit 7
- Kramer Robertson - 0-4, 2 K
- Juan Yepez - 1-3, BB, 2 K
- Dylan Carlson - 0-4, K
- Nick Plummer - 0-2, 2 K
- Austin Warner - (L 1-2) 4.2 IP, 9 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 8 K
- Bryan Dobzanski - 1.0 IP, 5 H, 3 R, BB, 0 K
A pretty brutal night all the way around for Peoria. Peoria pitchers gave up 14 hits, although only two extra-base hits. Kramer Robertson is scuffling big time right now after an aggressive assignment to start his pro career. He’s hitting close to .100 in his last 10 games and his batting average has plummeted to .220. Bryan Dobzanski was a pretty significant high school signing in the 2014 draft and he’s put up solid numbers during his first 4 pro seasons. He just surpassed his highest innings total and that will be something to keep an eye on during the next 2 months.
State College 4, West Virginia 1 (Game 1)
- Wood Myers - 1-4, 2B, RBI
- Scott Hurst - 1-3, R, BB, K
- Evan Mendoza - 3-4, 2 R, 2B, HR, RBI, K
- Andrew Summerville - 5.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 4 K
State College 5, West Virginia 6 (Game 2)
- Wood Myers - 1-4, R, 2 K
- Scott Hurst - 1-3, R, BB, 2 K
- Evan Mendoza - 2-3, R, 2B, 2 RBI, K
- Ricardo Bautista - 2-4, 2 RBI, K
- Yariel Gonzalez - 2-3, RBI, BB, SB
- Bryce Denton - 1-4, 3 K
- Zach Kirtley - 0-2, BB
- Steven Farinaro - (L 1-1) 4.2 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 2 ER, BB, 3 K
Evan Mendoza is putting up ridiculous numbers. How ridiculous? Try .370/.434/.541/.975 with 50 hits in 34 games. Evan also has 13 doubles and he’s walked 14 times. Needless to say it’s very exciting to see a young player doing well in his first taste of pro ball. Scott Hurst is also excelling, both at the plate and on the field. Hurst is displaying a solid eye (11 BB in 26 games) and solid pop (12 extra-base hits) while hitting in the #2 hole for the Spikes.
GCL Mets 2, GCL Cardinals 7
- Jonathan Machado - 0-4, R, RBI, BB, K
