Here’s a quick look back at some takeaway players from the past week of farm play:

Player of the Week: Memphis Redbirds infielder Breyvic Valera

Valera had a big week for the Redbirds, who picked up their 70th victory of the season on Saturday night. Valera went 7-for-15 at the plate, hitting two doubles, driving in a run, and scoring eight times.

Through 87 with Memphis, Valera is slashing .302/.357/.396 with 12 doubles and 43 runs scored.

Pitcher of the Week: Johnson City Cardinals starting pitcher Alvaro Seijas

Seijas made two starts over the last week for the Johnson City Cardinals. In the starts combined, Seijas lasted 12 23 innings, allowing six earned runs with a 13:4 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Seijas earned the victory in both starts, improving to 3-1 on the season.

Seijas has an 8.55 K/9 over seven games and starts this year.

Player to Watch: Memphis Redbirds starting pitcher Dakota Hudson

With Luke Weaver in the Majors, Hudson earned a promotion to the Redbirds. Hudson was sparkling at Double-A Springfield, posting a 9-4 record with a 2.53 earned run average in 18 starts. Hudson was drafted by the Cardinals in the opening round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft and is continuing his quick rise through the system.
