Congratulations to those of you who survived the weekend without melting or slowly shrinking and transforming into a corn cob following Saturday’s game. In case you found better things to do with your time than following baseball, impossible as that seems, here is what you might have missed at Viva El Birdos.
- As was covered intensively on Friday, the Cardinals made a trade with the Seattle Mariners for outfield prospect Tyler O’Neill. As Ben Markham notes, this move appears to follow player personnel trends for the St. Louis Cardinals.
- For a future Viva El Birdos Podcast, we are going to discuss the all-time Cardinals MVP, Cy Young winner, top manager, and Gold Glove winners. In order to vote and have your voices heard, please vote here.
- Bullpen pieces are frequently interchangeable at the Major League level, which means that, particularly if a trade is made, you will probably see them sooner rather than later. The red baron looked at some of the most interesting potential MLB relievers.
- Speaking of “guys who might be traded or might become necessary at the MLB level if players are traded”, Josey Curtis wrote about developments in the farm system over the last week.
- On Sunday afternoon, Pegasus wrote about Michael Wacha, Sunday night’s starter, and how his excellent start last Tuesday could be a sign that he is and always has been good.
- Saturday’s miserable loss to the Chicago Cubs was recapped by IHeartBoog, who deserves some sort of medal for handling this task. Sunday’s game less devastating but still pretty unpleasant game was recapped by VanHicklestein.
