Here’s a look back at the week’s top performances:
Player of the Week: Memphis Redbirds outfielder Harrison Bader
Cardinals seventh overall prospect Harrison Bader went 8-for-23 over the last week with two home runs, three runs batted in, two stolen bases, and seven runs scored. Bader has tied a career-high with 19 long balls and is batting .299 for the Redbirds.
Though his bat may be his premier asset, Bader is a fine defender. Not only does Bader hit home runs, he robs them, too.
Pitcher of the Week: Springfield Cardinals right-hander Dakota Hudson
St. Louis 10th-ranked prospect Dakota Hudson pitched his way to wins eight and nine on the season over the previous week. Hudson, in starts against the Arkansas Travelers and Northwest Arkansas Naturals, combined to pitch 13 1⁄3 innings, allowing one earned run and punching out eight. Hudson is 9-4 with a 3.66 FIP over 114 frames this season.
Player to Watch: Memphis Redbirds catcher Gabriel Lino
With top catching prospect Carson Kelly promoted on Friday, Gabriel Lino will get some work in behind the plate for the Memphis Redbirds, as he was promoted from Springfield. Lino slashed .267/.339/.419 in 58 games with 15 doubles for the Cardinals prior to his promotion.
