Last October, for the Viva El Birdos Podcast, listeners voted for the winners of the major awards for the American League, National League, and the St. Louis Cardinals. A good time was had by all, even though even our Cardinals-centric audience couldn’t quite give NL awards to El Birdos.
Well, this year is looking...less exceptional. Like, the team isn’t horrible, but a major award candidate seems unlikely. But, like, giving awards out is fun. So let’s do it, okay?
Presented below is the All-Time Awards ballot for the St. Louis Cardinals. As is the case in real-world MVP, Cy Young, and Manager awards, the ballots are of varying sizes: 10, 5, and 3 names, respectively. There is no Rookie of the Year award, as this would inherently reward an individual season as opposed to a player’s entire Cardinals career.
For Gold Glove Awards, there are four candidates listed for each. There are some awards where there are more than four respectable candidates (sorry, Brendan Ryan) and others where some of the candidates are admittedly not as great as others (this is the byproduct of abiding by modern rules on awarding an award to each outfield spot).
Voting will start immediately and will be available for one week. The award results will be announced on an upcoming episode of the Viva El Birdos Podcast. The below formatting may not be perfect for all web-based browsers, but should at the least work on laptops, desktops, and tablets. Hope everyone has fun!
