Attention everybody! The Cardinals have made a move! The Cardinals are sending Marco Gonzales (AKA Jaime Garcia 2.0) to the Mariners for the Power-hitting, laser-throwing, Canadian baseball phenom Tyler O'Neill. If you cannot tell by now, I am very excited to have acquired O'Neill. I was talking to my friend yesterday about a potential Cardinals and Mariners move, and we were discussing potential moves and I was very hopeful we could get O'Neill from them. Here we are a day later and I get my wish! O'Neill is the number 2 prospect in the Mariners system and with the emergence of Haniger and Gamel, plus with top prospect Kyle Lewis on the way, reports were that the Mariners were open to moving him in the right deal. He got off to a slow start this season at Triple-A Tacoma but has come alive as of late to raise overall batting line to 244/328/479. I know that Marco Gonzales had pedigree as well, but he had been passed on the organizational depth chart by other starters. I am honestly surprised we were able to trade Marco for someone of O'Neill's pedigree. Whether we keep O'Neill or package him for someone else, I think it is a great move to get value for Marco while we can. Who knows how long his arm is going to hold up and i honestly did not think he had that much value. I'm sorry for the short, rushed post, but I was too excited and had to post about the trade. Thanks and have a great day everyone!
