I wrote about Vince Coleman’s prowess on the bases yesterday and a commenter included a clip from 1985 that I had never seen. Here’s Mike Shannon on the call as Coleman embarrasses the Cubs and teams up with Willie McGee to swipe a total of four bases on one pitch. Enjoy.
That’s a great call from Shannon. And as noted at the end of the clip, Coleman happened to set the NL record for rookies for stolen bases on the play. Pretty great.
And here’s what else you may have missed yesterday at VEB:
- Here’s the farm report. Chad Huffman and Harrison Bader teamed up to hit a couple of dingers.
- You may have heard this story, but Carlos Martinez recently took a trip to Six Flags - because why the hell not - and met a group of from the Dominican Republic and invited all of them to a Cardinals game.
A man of the people! @Tsunamy27 invited a group of 45 fellow Dominicans to watch today's game. pic.twitter.com/zV46aG3jhB

- Here’s an update on the recent draft including who’s signed and for what.
- Lastly, the offense showed up in a big way for the rubber match with the Diamondbacks and As You Van Slyke it had the recap.
That should do it. Have a great weekend, everyone.
