Cardinals news and notes: Umpires, interleague, El Gallo

Yesterday at VEB

Over Wednesday’s loss yet? Me neither. So let’s skip the banter and get right to what you may have missed yesterday at VEB:

  • This is likely recency bias since I’m referring to the most recent baseball game I have watched, but Jeff Kellogg called perhaps the worst game I have seen behind the plate on Wednesday. Joe Schwarz chronicled a lot of it here. Kellogg was pretty rough on both teams but made some particular bad calls against the Cardinals in high-leverage moments.
  • Reasonable minds can differ here but I don’t like interleague play and I tried to explain why here.
  • Here’s the farm report. It was a rough day for most of the baby birds.
  • And finally, here’s some good information on Carlos Martinez and Jason Motte’s respective charities. Both men are doing great work.

That should do it. Enjoy your weekend, everyone.
