The Cardinals four affiliate teams combined for five wins in their twelve games over the weekend. The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds played a doubleheader on Friday against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, and High-A Palm Beach’s game against the Charlotte Stone Crabs on Sunday was postponed to a later date.

With that, here are some notes from the weekend:

-Outfielder Chad Huffman, subject of the most recent journal, notched two doubles and drove in four runs for Memphis.

-Double-A Springfield Cardinals hurler Jack Flaherty - ranked fifth on the Viva El Birdos list - tossed six innings of scoreless ball to pick up his fourth win and lower his earned run average to 0.33 over 27 13 innings.

-First baseman Luke Voit went 8-for-16 over the weekend with a double, triple, and five runs batted in for Memphis.

-Chiefs second baseman J.R. Davis had five hits in thirteen at-bats, scoring three runs for Class-A Peoria.

-Palm Beach designated hitter Chris Chinea went 5-for-8 in two games this weekend with two RBIs and a long ball, his second of 2017.

-Infielder Danny Hudzina hit his second homer of the year for the Chiefs after hitting just four in 205 at-bats last summer.

-Sam Tuivailala recorded his first save of the season for Memphis on Sunday, pitching two hitless innings and whiffing four to close out the ballgame.

-Springfield second baseman Bruce Caldwell hit his third home run of the season; he hit eleven homers in 105 games last season.

Monday’s probable starting pitchers:

MEM: Chris Ellis

SPR: Sandy Alcantara

PEO: Bryan Dobzanski

The Palm Beach Cardinals are off on Monday and will resume play Tuesday against the Florida Fire Frogs. Jake Woodford is scheduled to take the mound.
