It was Carlos Martinez Day yesterday at VEB

In celebration of Carlos Martinez’s five year / $51 million extension on Thursday, VEB devoted an entire day to their young ace.

Joe Schwarz kicked things off by recapping the signing and throwing out a few links to some of his previous columns on Martinez. He also include a GIF of what is also my favorite Carlos Martinez play to date (as Joe mentioned, it’s not a pitch). Click on Joe’s piece to see the GIF or just watch the full video below.

Amazing. If I recall, the Brewers ended up not scoring that inning. And Al Hrabosky actually breaks down the play pretty well. There’s a Mark Reynolds cameo, too.

I wrote why this extension is good for pretty much everyone associated with baseball. (But the Cardinals especially.)

Lil Scooter also broke down the extension to each dollar and included a video of Carlos’s 13 strikeouts in Milwaukee. Also, how did Heather do this? Or is my computer broken?

And Ben Markham feels great about the future of the Cardinals’ pitching in light of Martinez’s contract extension.

Lastly, site manager Craig Edwards did another Facebook live chat and took questions on this extension, the hacking scandal, whether the Cardinals still need to add another bat, and other pressing issues.

That’s it. Have a great weekend. Viva El Gallo!
