Class A Advanced: Fort Myers 5 -- Palm Beach 3
- Darren Seferina, 2B, 2-for-5, K, CS, PO
- Oscar Mercado, PR, (0 PAs)
- Austin Gomber, 5 IP, 5 Ks, BB, 8 Hits, 3 ER
For Seferina, the PO and CS are separate events. He was caught stealing 2nd with one out in the bottom of the ninth and another runner (Mercado, pinch-running) on 3rd. The next batter walked and stole 2nd before Blake Drake struck out to end the game.
Class A: Peoria 4 -- Beloit 9
- Edmundo Sosa, SS, 1-for-4, RBI
- Eliezer Alvarez, 0-for-3, 2 BBs, R
- Brian O'Keefe, C, 1-for-4, 2B, BB, 2 RBI
Eliezer Alvarez has become really interesting after not making the VEB Top Prospect list this year. He put up some decent numbers in Rookie leagues the last two years, but this is his first year in a full season league. He's shown significant plate discipline by walking over 10% of the time, but the bulk of his offensive profile so far is his extremely high BABIP -- .388 entering yesterday's game. He has little power, with just two home runs this year and never more than that in his short season appearances, but he has some speed with 18 SBs this season. If he's a solid defender at 2B and his BABIP is largely driven by hard-hit balls then he should shoot up prospect lists for next year.
Class A Short Season: Brooklyn 8 -- State College 9
- Tommy Edman, SS, 1-for-6, BB, 2 Runs (Round 6, 2016, Stanford)
- Vincent Jackson, DH, 3-for-6, 2 2Bs, 2 Ks, 2 RBI, R, SB (Round 14, 2016, Tennessee)
- Jeremy Martinez, C, 1-for-3, 3 BBs, K, R, SB (Round 4, 2016, Southern California)
- Danny Hudzina, 3B, 2-for-4, BB, K, RBI, 2 Runs (Round 10, 2016, Western Kentucky)
After establishing a 5 -- 1 lead after the first inning, State College needed a walk-off HBP in the 11th to win.
Rookie DSL: DSL Brewers 6 -- DSL Cardinals 7
- Wadye Ynfante, CF, 1-for-2, R
- Elehuris Montero, 3B, 3-for-5, 2B, 3B, K, 2 RBI, R
- Brian Sanchez, RF, 0-for-2, 2 BBs, K
Ynfante was pinch-ran for in the 3rd.
This game was concluded after eight innings, presumably to accommodate the 2nd game.
DSL Cardinals 11 -- DSL Brewers 4
- Elehuris Montero, 3B, 0-for-3, BB, 2 Ks, R
- Brian Sanchez, RF, 0-for-2, 2 BBs, 2 Ks, R
This game was just seven innings -- a makeup of Tuesday's postponed contest.
Rookie GCL: GCL Marlins 11 -- GCL Cardinals 12
- Dylan Carlson, CF, 0-for-4, BB, K, 2 Runs, RBI (Round 1, 2016, HS)
- Walker Robbins, LF, 0-for-4, BB, K, R (Round 5, 2016, HS)
- Brady Whalen, 3B, 0-for-2, BB, 2 RBI, R (Round 12, 2016, HS)
Interesting to see Carlson in center, when he's considered a likely 1B/Corner OF type. This is likely just to get all draftees as many PAs as possible. For more on Carlson, here's RB's post-draft analysis.
Rookie: Johnson City 5 -- Danville 3
- Andrew Brodbeck, 2B, 0-for-4, BB, CS (Round 9, 2015, Flagler College)
- Bryce Denton, 3B, 1-for-3, 2 BBs, 2 Ks, RBI, 2 Runs (Round 2, 2015, HS)
- Andrew Knizner, C, 2-for-4, 2B, RBI (Round 7, 2016, North Carolina State)
- Shane Billings, CF, 1-for-4, K (Round 13, 2016, Wingate)
- Matt Fiedler, LF, 1-for-4, 2B, K (Round 9, 2016, Minnesota)

Memphis: Mike Mayers
Springfield: J.C. Sulbaran
Palm Beach: Jack Flaherty
Peoria: TBD
