St. Louis Cardinals Prospect Report: Dave Washington Homers Again For Memphis

New, comments
Scott Rovak-USA TODAY Sports

It was a rough night on the farm, the system got skunked, and there were few performances of note. But please keep reading.

Triple-A: New Orleans 4 - Memphis 1

  • Tommy Pham (CF): 0-4, K
  • Charlie Tilson (LF): 0-1
  • Jose Martinez (LF-RF): 0-4, 2 K
  • David Washington (1B): 1-3, R, HR, RBI, BB, 2 K
  • J.C. Sulbaran (SP): 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K
  • Corey Littrell (RP): 2 IP, 1 K

David Washington has as many homers (11) in AAA as he has singles. Last night's home run was his 13th of the year total...J.C. Sulbaran had a pretty good game.

Double A: Midland 5 - Springfield 3

  • Harrison Bader (CF): 0-5, 2 K
  • Bruce Caldwell (2B): 0-4, K
  • Luke Voit (1B): 3-4
  • Anthony Garcia (LF): 1-3, R, 2B
  • Paul Dejong (DH): 1-4, K
  • Carson Kelly (C): 0-3, R
  • Trey Nielsen (SP): 6 IP, 12 H, 5 R, 4 R, 2 BB, 0 K, 1 HR

With only 3 hits in his last 8 games, Bruce Caldwell has started to cool down a bit. His line for the year is still very good, but he was bound to fall off that pace at some point...Anthony Garcia is back in Springfield to try to regain some traction after an awful debut in Memphis. The early returns have been good.

A Advanced: Bradenton 8 - Palm Beach 3

  • Darren Seferina (2B): 1-5, R, 3 K, 2 SB
  • Mason Katz (3B): 0-4, R, BB, K
  • Casey Grayson (1B): 2-3, R, RBI, BB
  • Steve Bean (C): 0-3, BB, K
  • Oscar Mercado (SS): 0-3, BB
  • Austin Gomber (SP): 6 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 4 BB, 4 K, 1 HR
  • Landon Beck (RP): .1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 BB

Mason Katz was making his 2016 debut after rehabbing an injury. His bat hasn't quite yet lived up to expectations given his age and college pedigree, and now he'll have his work cut out for him as he tries to elbow his way into a crowded field of second and third basemen in the upper minors...Seferina's stolen bases were his 13th and 14th of the year...Austin Gomber had the dreaded Mark Of The Beast pitching line...Last night will skew his overall line, but Landon Beck has still been racking up strikeouts since the promotion to Palm Beach.

Class A: Wisconsin 3 - Peoria 1

  • Magneuris Sierra (CF): 1-4, K, SB
  • Edmundo Sosa (SS): 0-4, 3 K
  • Eliezer Alvarez (2B): 2-3, BB, K
  • Chris Chinea (C): 1-4
  • Brennan Leitao (SP): 7.1 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 R, 1 BB, 4 K, 1 HR

In my last Daily Farm Report I wrote that the team seemed to be moving away from Chris Chinea as a catcher, and he caught the next game I recapped. Don't ever listen to me.
